Cuts, grazes & minor burns

Cuts, grazes and minor burns

Cuts and grazes are all too common as your children reach the age where they’re always running around outdoors! Little accidents can happen, and Sudocrem is always on hand to help.

Use a little Sudocrem Antiseptic Healing Cream on the affected area to soothe and heal sore skin. Your little ones will be up and running around again in no time. (And comparing war wounds no doubt!)

Treatment for abrasions

Abrasions occur when little elbows or knees are scraped, leaving the area red and tender. Clean the area using a clean cloth or cotton wool swab with a little water and mild soap. Then apply Sudocrem Antiseptic Healing Cream to reduce the risk of infection. Sudocrem also contains a mild local anaesthetic which will soothe the pain.

Treatment for small cuts

Like an abrasion ensure you wash the area and after washing you may wish to hold the area under cold running water to ensure all dirt has been removed. A small amount of Sudocrem can be applied before covering the area with a suitably sized plaster. Once the cut has begun to heal, you can remove the plaster if you wish, as exposing the cut to the air can help the healing process.

Treatment for larger cuts

A deep cut may require medical attention, particularly if it is bleeding heavily. Raising the injury above the heart can help slowdown the blood flow. If you suspect the cut could be infected or you have any concerns, consult your doctor as soon as possible.

Minor burns

Superficial burns can be very painful; it is important to cool down the area as quickly as possible. Plunge the area into cold water or hold under a cold running tap for a few minutes, until the pain has subsided. Applying Sudocrem Antiseptic Healing Cream can also help to soothe the sore and tender skin.

If symptoms persist or if there are side effects, please consult your doctor.

Eczema, chilblains & pressure sores

Eczema, chilblains and pressure sores

Sudocrem Antiseptic Healing Cream is the nation’s favourite nappy rash cream and it is also very effective at dealing with other common skin complaints. Our ingredients, which have remained unchanged since 1931, work together to protect the skin and promote healing. The mild local anaesthetic soothes pain and the antiseptic action help prevent infection.

Eczema, also known as dermatitis is a dry skin condition. The condition varies greatly between person to person. In mild cases of eczema, the skin is red, dry and scaly. The effect of the dry skin can make the area itchy. In more severe cases, there may be weeping, crusting and bleeding. Eczema affects people of all ages however it is very common for children to be affected.

According to the National Eczema Society: “In the UK, one in five children and one in twelve adults have eczema.”

If you know an eczema sufferer, you may already be aware how important it is to try and keep the skin soft and supple. Sudocrem Antiseptic Healing Cream can be used effectively for this purpose.

Sudocrem has a gentle cooling effect which can ease the itchy feeling that eczema can bring. The active ingredients maintain the skin’s natural moisture and work to keep skin healthy, soft and supple.

Chilblains are small swellings on the skin that are normally a reaction to cold temperatures they often affect toes, fingers, heels, ears and noses. Whilst chilblains can often be uncomfortable, they can be prevented.

The best way to prevent chilblains is to limit exposing your extremities to the cold; this is of course not always possible, and if you or your family are suffering you can use Sudocrem Antiseptic Healing Cream to soothe the discomfort.

Pressure sores

Pressure ulcers, also known as bedsores or pressure sores, are caused by placing an area of skin under prolonged pressure. The pressure disrupts the blood flow and the affected skin becomes starved of oxygen and begins to break down.

To prevent pressure sores change a person’s position frequently or using special equipment (cushions, mattresses, etc.) to protect the body. If someone in your family is already suffering from pressure sores, Sudocrem Antiseptic Healing Cream can help to treat the condition. Sudocrem will help to alleviate the pain and creates a barrier to help protect the skin from infection. If the feeling of discomfort or the visible effects persist consult your doctor as soon as possible.

Acne & spots

Acne and spots

Acne is a very common skin condition that will affect almost everyone at some point in their life. The condition causes spots to develop on the skin, usually on the face.

Acne often effects teenagers and younger adults and is most common in girls between the ages of 14 and 17, and between 16 and 19 in boys.

How to prevent acne

Keep your skin clean to prevent new spots developing; wash the affected area regularly with a mild soap or cleanser. Avoid scrubbing the skin as this may cause irritation. Try not to pick or squeeze spots as this can lead to scarring and spreading.

Remember to keep skin well moisturised, Sudocrem Skin Care cream is particularly effective for this purpose.

Treating acne

Whilst acne cannot be cured, it can be effectively treated. Sudocrem Antiseptic Healing Cream can be used prior to going to bed to ensure that the areas affected by acne are kept clean, protected from further potential infection and soothed to ease the itchy feeling.
